Duplex Stainless Steel

Duplex Stainless Steel is a family of stainless alloys containing roughly equal proportions of austenite and ferrite phases. This dual-phase microstructure provides a unique combination of high strength, excellent corrosion resistance, superior stress corrosion cracking resistance, and good weldability. Duplex grades are widely used in aggressive environments where both mechanical strength and corrosion resistance are critical.

Key Features

  • High tensile and yield strength (almost double that of austenitic stainless steels)
  • Excellent resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking
  • Improved chloride corrosion resistance compared to 304/316 grades
  • Good weldability and formability
  • Lower thermal expansion and higher thermal conductivity
  • Cost-effective due to lower nickel and molybdenum content

Available Product Forms

  • Sheets
  • Coils
  • Plates
  • Pipes (Welded & Seamless)
  • Rods / Bars

Applications

  • Chemical processing equipment
  • Oil & gas offshore structures
  • Desalination plants
  • Pulp & paper industry
  • Heat exchangers and pressure vessels
  • Marine and shipbuilding components
  • Pollution control equipment
